Hi All, I’m hoping you can help me. This afternoon my OH had his van stolen. Along with it went a trailer and ALL his dive gear. We are talking 2 drysuits, twin set, sets of regs, camera, torches, 2 VR3’s, compressor, j bottles, the lot. I will update this with a full list of everything with makes and models once we’ve done the list but if anyone hears anything or gets offered anything, please do the right thing and let us know or report it to the police.

I am also asking that people keep an eye out for his van as it’s a Mercedes Sprinter of a fairly distinctive lime green colour with reg KX52, and again if anyone see’s, hears or knows of anything please call the police or let us know.

What a bummer, these scum make my skin crawl, they think they have a right to take whatever they want, hope the boys in blue catch the vermin, really sorry to hear this, just hope you get your van and kit back. Good luck, just hope they get there just reward at some point in there pointless and useless life !! Sorry for the rant but I just hate scum !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to say but I seriously doubt the police will be interested.
Unless the thieves drive at 3 mph over the speed limit of course, in which case it'll be 8 squad cars and a helicopter.

I hope the insurance covers it - and I'd like to see a bit more vigilante justice in this country - that'd keep the little shits in line.

Where was it stolen from? ie what would be the likely area in which the van 'may' be in?

I hope you manage to get your stuff back.

My father and his friend both had thier dive gear pinched from outside the local dive shop.
They broke into my dad's friends van and took the lot.

Really sorry to hear that, where do you live ?
It might make a diff to where the property ends up .....

Check local cash convertors etc as ours now have cctc and demand i/d from any sellers - v useful to us !
Check e-bay continually and try local car booters etc

If the van is located - where ever it is, ask / demand that it gets examined by SOCO / CSI , whilst this will not get your stuff back , it will potentially give leads to who has used the vehicle ....

Thanks guys for all your kind words and advise. We have had an amazingly hectic weekend but I'm really glad to report that the van was found only minutes from where we had been out looking, and it looks like most of the dive stuff is there. The van was fully fingerprinted and the satnav system and speakers were ripped out so it looks a mess, but we are so relieved to have some of the dive kit back.

All the tools and trailer went and phones, cash, computers. But as the side door was open things have fallen out and reports have been made that other items might have been found by neighbours in the area, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that we might get some more things over the coming weeks.

He is fully insured but as usual it just won't cover everything, and with the dive kit its all so personal, and I don't think I ever realised just how personal until this happened.

We are off to hit chelford car boot sale and see if we can get some good bargains on dive gear and tools.
