Really thick wetsuit
Hi all
I'm pretty new to all this. I wonder if anyone can tell me, what is the thickest, neoprene wetsuit available on the market? The thickest I can find is 7mm and I would like one thicker than this. Could anyone tell me where I can find what I'm looking for please?

Cheers

Jim

RE: Really thick wetsuit
I've not heard of anything over 7mm but I prefer to layer up with a shorty over the top.

Over here I wear a 5mm long, 5mm shorty and a 1mm vest underneath to keep the important bits warm... Wink

Hi Jim
I use a 2 piece 7mm Neosport, which gives me 14mm on the chest, which you need here in Ireland average temp is 12 and even after 80 dives with it I'm still warm after a 1hr dive.
Hope this helps

RE: Really thick wetsuit
There was a mad scottish woman on a boat out of sharm in the height of summer last year with an 8mm, dunno the make.

Kitting up almost killed her though...........

Actually the obvious question to ask is why Jim ?

If it's because of warmth wouldn't you be better off going dry ?

Not sure you'll be able to bend your arms with anything much thicker, unless it just has a thicker torso. I'll agree with countshagula - go for a drysuit.

I suggests a dry suit, if it cold! I think the most you can get is a 7mm Smile

RE: Really thick wetsuit
The doubling up approach is always a good idea

But after diving the UK seas not that long ago I can honestly say that I want a drysuit

Putting on a wet wetsuit is grim even if it's 36 degrees out and weather is tropical so repetitive dives in the UK are just horrid

And that to the general crappyness of english weather and it just becomes a detestable process.

Splash out and go dry

I know I will be soon enough

When the money comes in like

Not cool bubby....not cool

Howdy
The suit isn't for diving. I deal with stage productions and it is for use as a comedy effect costume. If 7mm is as thick as they get then I will have to try an alternative method. Thanks for your help and advice everyone.
