RE: fish id books
I occasionally see books on boats etc, which I always try to have a look at. But what about identifiers you can take down with you?
Any on know of anything like that?
Although I would imagine a Caribbean version would be large.

RE: fish id books
Reef Fish Identification - Florida Caribbean Bahamas. Paul Humann and Ned DeLoach

One of a set of three with Reef Creature Identification - Florida Caribbean Bahamas. and Reef Coral Identification - Florida Caribbean Bahamas. by the same authors.

Fish is in its third edition, Creatures and Corals are at their second edition.

Collectively the REEF set.

Very very good and up to date, but quite expensive and heavy to travel with.

RE: fish id books
I'm a great believer in the fact that that few people know the real names of fish tending to seperate between "SH*ite that's a big fecking shark" and "Ah cute cuddly fish with stripes".

I suggest you become an authority on marine life by adopting sayings such as "Yes that's the Red Sea Flat fish with feet" or "Feck.. you might be right its a big ba*sta*d" or "That will be the famous Red Sea Hidey fIsh"

Books are ok but hey ... save money and wing it.
