free flowing reg!!!
How to quickly loose faith in your lds, took my set of regs and two cylinders in for service one month ago,got my regs back last week apeks first and second stage nice little bag of bits that had been replaced new mouthpiece and all very clean looking, overall very impressed, could'nt test them as my cylinders not returned at this time. My cylinders had been gone a month( was told when i took them in that it would be two weeks) picked up one of my cylinders on sat, no sign of the other!. To be fair my dive shop did offer to lend me a bottle as i was planning a shore dive off flamborough today. Anyway gets to flamborough this morning with me buddy water is crystal!, very excited about my first shore dive.Get's all set up and my reg(apeks t40d) just constantly PASSES AIR!!! ok not free flowing but not closing either, tried adjusting the resistance knob on the side to no avail!!!! Obviously this is how they should operate as they have JUST been serviced! Anyway the dive went ahead anyway i just used my air a third faster than usual sseing lots of starfish, lobsters crabs and some amazingly beautifull kelp forests. So monday i shall return yet again to my local very friendly shop for a cylinder refill and to possibly say goodbye to my regs for another month! Gutted. My dive shop is great but this has really knocked my confidence in their work.Does anyone knows whats gone wrong with my regs(please no suggestions of hitting them with a big stick, believe me i was tempted earlier)

RE: free flowing reg!!!
Possibly the seat has not been correctly installed or the adjustment of it it wrong. Whatever the physical problem it's not important. The fact that they are leaking air and that's not what they are supposed to do is important.
Sadly this isn't uncommon with regs after a service. |

RE: free flowing reg!!!
And yet you still went diving with them. Your more brave than me. Shallow or not I'm not sure I would have risked it.
On the service front. I try to use a place that has its own ansti machine as I know they are then tested well after the service and then again after 6 months http://www.porthkerris.com http://www.divepursuits.com |

RE: free flowing reg!!!
Take them back and complain like fxk, I have seen this more than once, IE worse when they come back than ever they were when they went. Do not let them fob you off, if they are apologetic then leave it at that once they have fixed the problem. Do this on a saturday because if they try to tell you its your problem, them go ballistic, the more people in the shop the better

RE: free flowing reg!!!
I agree with Bobco, Saturday is a good day, even if it means waiting in the car outside until they are busy. Start off cool calm and collected though, give them a chance, starting of ranting and raving just gets things off to a bad start.

RE: free flowing reg!!!
took them in this morning, he tested them on a cylinder and could'nt apologise enough. said they'll be sorted asap. We'll see eh. Its not the staff in the shop it's the people who they send the gear to thats screwing things up for them. My mate in brid has he's reg's serviced at the same place and when he connected his to his cylinder his first stage blew apart!! that time they apologised to him and said it was a recal on his scubapro reg's that they should've checked for! no kidding. now he,s that paranoid that he dives with a pony bottle as well.

RE: free flowing reg!!!
Many shops (most) are just agents for companies that do the repair, same for cylinder testing.

RE: free flowing reg!!!
One of our club has passed his full testing standards, regs cylinders the lot. I only use him, we dive together of and on, he know to get it right, but he is very good so always does

RE: free flowing reg!!!
I only use Aquasport now. Its local to where Vic works and he has a ansti machine to test the breathe on. Had 4 sets serviced so far and no troubles yet. Not much use to you in east yorkshire but if anyone is in Birmingham/Solihull heres a link.
