RE: free flowing reg!!!
Jason at the dive shop is lovely and has often offered to lend me his own kit, rather than have to fork out to hire stuff. He's a true diamond in an otherwise potentially ropey place. Things kind of come back to you eventually, but you always have to chase them up. It's not that they're not nice people, but they need to do better when it comes to offering servicing. I suspect that they're sometimes so busy with training and courses that the servicing side gets left behind sometimes. But, much as I love them, it's not good enough in this industry. I think they'd be gutted to see this thread and I may well mention it to them sometime but this isn't the first time that stuff has been slow or had to be sent back. I think we're all keen to support our LDS as far as we can...but only if it's worthy of doing so and some places just need to up their game a little, rather than relying on local goodwill.
Or maybe just let me handle it with a good old dollop of tank-battering...maybe that's all it will take to get your regs back? |

RE: free flowing reg!!!
I hear what your saying. But im more impressed that you just been to a beer festival and managed to post that reply with no spelling mistakes!!
Hope you had a good night. :thumbup:Found out on sat that they suspect the fault to be within the first stage now? how would this make my reg hiss air? anyone? i think i may dismantle my spartan regs to gain a better understanding of how these things work(after today i shall never be using them in the water again anyway) LOOK A FISH!!!

RE: free flowing reg!!!
Had a call today off the engineer working on my reg's, been bench testing them all week! fault still there. He's suggestion to me was that MAYBE something was bent due to the reg's been knocked at sometime(how fragile are reg's?) and when serviced and new parts fitted( nice new strait parts) one of the new parts not seating right could be a new blade(?) and spring(not the piston as he's already fitted two of them!) or it may need a new body at approx £50! one of these parts MIGHT!!!! fix it.
i did the sensible thing and just asked for them back. im now looking for a reasonably priced set of regs(secondhand). Lesson Learned? if my next set of reg's are working fine i WILL NOT be getting them serviced.(i know new reg's are the best and safest option before anyone post's this information, but until my mate has his set stolen from his garage and gets a new set off his insurance second hand will have to do)

RE: free flowing reg!!!
Have mine as long as you like, mate. Sorry about the colour! I'll be at Wyke College til 3 tomorrow but not in Hull again until next Thursday afternoon - Spring Bank, which isn't far from Hull Truck if you're still working there?

RE: free flowing reg!!!
You could send them off to apeks and see what they say. They'll do servicing by post and get pretty good comments from people who've done that. If you include a letter about your trials so far they might even take pity on you

RE: free flowing reg!!!
I'd ask for your money back (at least the labour) from the servicing people seeing as how they worked when they went in.
Then I'd send it off to Apeks for servicing with a covering letter, last apeks reg i had to replace the body on (defective hp seat on a DS4) was afaik £26 for the new body. HTH SmartMonkey Just Another Simon.......................... |

RE: free flowing reg!!!
Im not sure if what i was told was completely true, but if i send them off to apeks its gonna cost me servicing costs again and then parts to maybe just get the same answer. Im not flush with cash so think i may just write this whole experience off,and not use this place again for servicing. i have been recommended a service place local to me by another member on this forum so i shall try them i think. Thanks for the offer of the reg's polly, but i really dont like being responsible for someone else's kit( imagine if it went faulty whilst i had it!) i got my eye on a couple of what appears to be looked after reg's, so ill see what happens .

Isn't there a chance that the other place local to you are going to charge you servicing costs and parts though? At least with Apeks you can be pretty sure they'll get it sorted. You could also give them a ring and see whether they can take a quick look at the regs for you and give you an idea of cost to fix perhaps? |

RE: free flowing reg!!!
i did'nt make that very clear did i? i meant im giving up on fixing that reg and any regs i get from now i shall take for servicing elsewhere. for what i paid for my regs that are now faulty it would'nt be worth trying to get them fixed again.

RE: free flowing reg!!!
I don't use the regs, you idiot. They're just there cos I can't be arsed to put them on ebay. If they break, just get them fixed. If they don't then give me them back when you find some cheap enough to buy. I would sell them to you but there's just something wrong with a guy paying for pink regs.
I can let you have them when I'm back in Hull on Thursday. Now, shut up moaning and just use them til you find something better. |
