RE: TDI
That doesn't sound too bad really. This definetly does interest me. Are the courses similar from agency to agency, do you have a preference?
I'll have a think about this. Cheers.

Not sure about IANTD but for TDI you would need the advanced nitrox and decompression procedures as a minimum and extended range is probably advisable. I know an instructor who was offering all three for £550 and could sign you of as TDI or IANTD as he was qualified with both.

RE: TDI
You would need the same qualification if you were to follow IANTD, i.e Adv Nitrox, Deco Procedures, and as MKStu suggests, advisable to get the ER, possibly Normoxic Trimix, as well.

Core standards do differ between agencies, so on paper they may be a perceived difference, however in practice the Instructor is going to be the end stamp of quality. Many Instructors are multi agency, but you'd end up with the same training regardless of which badge you asked them to wear during the course itself.

RE: TDI
Thanks for your input guys, I will get the manuals and have a good read, Bolllefish is right adout nitrox in France but you can get it where i dive. Although they dive to 60mts on air in France, the dive centre i use only dive to 45mts

RE: TDI
I will also say Phil Short, Gary A (I did IANTD Rec Trimix with him and he is a very good instructor) or Phil Grigg ( I am sure BK will back me up with all three names)

RE: TDI
Another option is the IANTD Advanced Recreational Trimix course.

Gets you to 48m with a maximum of 15 minutes decompression using hyperoxic trimix diluents i.e 25/25 (O2/he).

Got to agree with that, even to the extent of how well you and that instructor relate, but then I'm a sensitive soul Smile and drill sergeants don't work for me.

TDI, IANTD, GUE, even BSAC but don't discount ITDA

and, as you're south I would like to put a mention in for a top bloke called Danny at http://www.wrightdiving.com/ who trains most agencies, including BSAC and ITDA and a lovely guy called Ian Dennis at http://www.iandennistechnical.co.uk/

Completely approachable so you could just have a chat about what might suit you

Yeh all three are great, shorty is probably the best uk based Diver come instructors, who actually dives what he teaches, Gary and Phil were both taught by Phil Short and are both very capable instructors who'll I'll more than happily recommend.

Although Gary is one of the mislead GUE crowd, I've heard rummors he's snapping out of that little phase in his lifeBig Grin good luck Gary you can do it. Thumbup
