RE: Post Processing and Macro
Thanks for that info Mike, I was looking for that type of info about a month or so back. I got a macro lens from the dive show, I've only manged to experiment once with it so far, but with your few tips I will give it another go ASAP (probably the weekend fingers crossed) The once I tried I never knew about the macro setting niot needed, and more zoom the better, but I will now try it more with that, I did manage to get a lot closer focussed image once but thought I fluked it, or the camera did. As I say, will give it a go and let you know Smile

RE: Post Processing and Macro
That was really interesting thanks Mike. Hoping to do a course with you at some point so if you have anything for complete beginner photographers in the offing please put a post up.

I'd really like a signiture, but due to a terminal lack of imagination . . .

RE: Post Processing and Macro
Hi ScubaDiva - I do courses for individuals, and for a complete beginner I'd suggest the following: how cameras work so you understand a bit about the variious settings on your camera, then how to set up your camera for best results underwater, compositional basics and finish with some basic post-processing.

I'll drop you a PM with more

RE: Post Processing and Macro
Very interesting, thank you. Would possibly be in touch but live an awful long way from you.

If you aren't living on the edge you are taking up too much space!

RE: Post Processing and Macro
Hi Mike,
Well I gave it a go!
I used my TTL connector cover off my ikelite housing

Here it is on macro with the camera & housing as close as I can get
[Image: IMG_1823.jpg]

I have a preset disital zoom feature that I can use with macro and get this with it
[Image: IMG_1824.jpg]

Using my macro lens! In the way you describe I get this Smile with 2x dz and zoomed in with no macro
[Image: IMG_1826.jpg]

Hell of a difference and worth every penny that lens!!
Here's my wedding ring tiny diamond
[Image: IMG_1846.jpg]

Thanks for that Mike, very helpful Smile

Using the 2x digital zoom function isnt possible on manual settings and raw but I have exposure control & jpeg which is ok for about 1.5meg which should be more than enough

RE: Post Processing and Macro
Glad you found the information useful! Thumbup

I'd suggest you didn't use the digital zoom, though - that works by cropping the image at the time of taking and resampling, both of which can be done in software later with more control from you.

RE: Post Processing and Macro
Cheers Mike, will keep that in mind, I might get another lens to stack & screw onto it the one I have, or wouldnt that do the same as the 2x dig. zoom?

RE: Post Processing and Macro
Yup, 2 lenses stacked will increase your magnification, but you'll find the camera getting very close to the subject.
