Why not go for it and dive one of the lakes? Wastwater, Crummock, etc... all have good B&B's cheap for hire just before Xmas? These will be both very scenic and different..

It's just supposed to be a social - an excuse to meet up for Christmas beers.
I threw in the offer of diving as an extra special treat, to tempt those who aren't excited enough simply by the offer of beer!
