Thermocline
Has anyone used Thermocline neutrally bouyant suits as advertised here?
I was a bit chilly in Dahab the other week and ended up wearing my 5mm shorty over my 5mm wetsuit. I was lovely and warm but it took 12kg to get me underwater (it's usually 8). I was the one literally crawling out onto the shore at the end of a dive because I couldn't stand up so I'm looking for alternatives. How toasty are these undersuits? I'd have the Explorer skin with a long sleeved top.

RE: Thermocline
hi, yes i've regularly used a long sleeve top in the UK under a two-piece semi this summer. The difference from just using rash-vest was very noticeable and was much nicer during the surface interval. but BE WARNED....the sizing of fourth element thermocline garments is very strange. I know they're meant to be 'fitting' but a large size was too small for me despite me being very slim. I'd make sure you try for size before buying.

Otherwise a big Thumbup from me. Costly compared to some alternatives but well worth it in my opinion. Ideal for slipping on under a 5mm in the Med and no more weight required.

RE: Thermocline
I have used them in Dahab, both the top and the shorts. They definately make a difference. As mentioned they do size on the small size.

RE: Thermocline
I've got the vest - didn't realise they did other stuff as well. Might be worth me looking at for Dahab (if I ever get back there) as well!

RE: Thermocline
I've got the long sleeved top and its a good bit of kit. Quite expensive, but worth it I think. The sizing was a bit strange before, but I think that has been corrected now, since I am now a Large based on the info on their site, compared to an XL before. The thermocline range is designed to be very snug however (its how it works), so keep that in mind! I've developed a special technique for taking off the long sleeve top when it is wet, since its a pig to get off otherwise!

They used to say that the top was equivalent to 2.5mm neo, and then the 'explorer' (the long johns)/shorts was also 2.5mm, so 5mm overall. However they have now changed this so that the double layer is equivalent to 3mm so something to bear in mind if you feel the cold.

Just looked at their web-site, and it is still saying that each layer = 2.5mm, giving a total of 5mm if you use the farmer john plus long sleeved top. I love my long sleeved top, it kept me very warm under a 5mm wet suit last new year in Sharm.
