If you are, be loud and be proud. Enter in to the cut and thrust of it all. I knew no other divers when I took up this marvellous pastime and was crewstfallen during the OW course when I found out I needed a diving buddy. Consequently, I turned to the internet to see what was out there and over time have built up a network of divers and teams I'm pleased to call dive buddies and friends. At least it kept me away from Peter North videos, for a while. Without Sir Tim Berners Lee, this would never have been possible. There are some downsides, anyone that disagrees with me and the Idjits who seem to populate just about every source of the virtual media, but it's a small price to pay. There's even room for Big Si.
Unfortunately D-day is approaching, PADIs Scuba Earth launches next week, their own diving forum. I learnt to dive 16 years ago but till finding UKD had only done random guided holiday dives. I have now advanced my diving further than I had ever imagined and like MC have a growing network for buddies and friends. C
Much like others, I learned to dive in 2004, didn't dive again until 2007 then struggled with just holiday diving as i knew no other divers!! Found UKD... and I too have found a small network of diving friends and buddies.... and am now diving far more than i'd previously hoped.... still not enough... but thats having a young family for ya!!
All my buddies are weirdoes I met on the internet* (except Clanger, who's a cnut). I love you all. You are all, in your own little ways, speshul. Don't ever change. *© the wife...
Ha me too, the missus is very suspisious of my internet diving obsession, and the peeps I meet. Mainly she is worried I am hooking up with girlies, if only she could see you ugly buggers! C
I've met up and dived with 3 (I think) people from UKD. Also met up with a couple more once but that was just really to say hello. Always happy to meet up.
It is a bit odd that we meet men on the Internet then have a desire to meet up and don rubber suits. Can't blame them for thinking we're weird! Sent from my iPad using Forum Runner
Actually Clanger was intimating he knows where you live, not the area, your actual house. Don't say I didn't warn you when you get a knock on the door late at night and there he is
All my dive buddies I found on the Internet. Not because I didn't have buddies in the real world, they just didn't do the dives how I like to dive, you know the how As for idjits, wait till you see the new apparel...they'll be instant classics I tell ya
