Coming soon!!Divers Cove is a new Scuba Diving Venue located in Godstone, Surrey just off Junction 6 of M25. The 7 acre lake is 27 foot deep and the water is crystal clear. We are working hard to open by the end of February 2012.

    Hi Simon,

Good to know there is another site open, but I think you might have jumped the gun a bit with advertising it since your website has no information on it. If I were you I'd worry more about getting that sorted out with the information that people might like (such as facilities, opening times, location etc) prior to putting links out there.

john has a point... there's nothing to look at yet.
best of luck with it though... have you put anything in it to look at? no chance of digging it out another 10m or so before you open is there?! ;)

Hi Simon, welcome to the forum.

Please be aware that UKD is not a free advertising medium and the mods take a very dim view of new users registering just to advertise their products/services. If you want to advertise you need to contact PeterT and probably look to become a sponsor of the site.

Good luck with the project, you are much too far south for me (anyone fancy opening a site near Sheffield with at least 40m depths?) but if it reduces demand on parking spaces at Stoney it gets my vote

No problem. Unlike many people you are promoting something which will be of use to our members and they can still find you via Google from the details in your first post.

Hopefully you will become a UKD regular poster and able to contribite to the site. How about poping along to new member introductions and tell us something about yerself and your divning backgroups/experiences?

Wasn't Puddlefish diving at this place a week or so ago.....found a bike and some power cable IIRC

Yep I did, and its was fun because it was new and only dived by one other person (who did not find the bike) and it was for free. But now at a proposed cost just 50p less than Wraysbury its got a long way to go to catch up.
Perhaps think about a membership scheme where we pay so much a year and dive as much as you like, until you get up and running. The divers you will get at the moment are unlikely to be diving inland a lot as soon as conditions are good we are off down the coast. Or for a small cost open up for a club dive like you kindly did for a dive club in January, yes divers are tight but we dont always expect freebees.
The main problems are as I see them.
-Access to the water is not easy its a long walk with kit for the average diver, a bit longer than the walk from the top car park at stoney and its a muddy track.
-Access in and out of the water is not easy the bank is steep and muddy.
-In low visability the trees could be an entanglement hazard, you had some good divers that didnt kick up the bottom.
-There was little to see to keep the average diver happy and just one fish.
    -No loos
    - Water quality may suffer as its not spring fed.

However, with a lot of work a fair amount of investment another dive site would be great and I hope it works out. I look forward to diving there again but not at the charge you are proposing for its current state.

I would like to point out these are my own views and not those associated with any dive club.

Doesn't sound very appealing to be honest :-(

Thanks for your comments but the free dive you enjoyed was requested by your club just as an excercise to map out the lake. We are obviously having parking, toilets, hot and cold food provisions when we open and won't be the way it was when you visited. The whole area is to be landscaped and diving platforms and attractions in the water to make it more enjoyable for the divers who come. Hopefully for all those that live close to Surrey would think the cheaper charge would be worth not travelling so far. We will be working with the divers to make sure that the lake is an enjoyable and cost effective dive available to them closer to home. Club discounts will be available along with a membership scheme. We will keep you posted on our website.

27 feet sounds deeper than 8 meters ;) You're going to be over run with Gooer's shuting down this and hovering on that. Nevertheless, good luck with the new venture.

All sounding very good and a new dive site is always welcome
If however the walk from my car to the waters edge is too far I would just turn around and go home. I never park in the 2nd or 3rd carpark at Stoney. Waters edge parking for me or I go home.
Somewhere nice and warm to sit after a dive and a cup of coffee is always a must for winter diving ;)
