My SAC over the last 97 dives. (First few no profile recorded) Sort of improving, but still pretty sad. Anybody else have similar graphs to make me feel better Harry
Rescue Diver Course. TBH its also an artefact of recording, I used the tank for blowing the bag as a buoyancy aid, and only recorded the in and out pressures fairly roughly. Harry
Plot an averaging trend line and it'll make you feel better. I don't track a lot of mine but will see what I have. Edit Here is mine. Mine might look artificially low as i don't have all that many UK dives in there. I only really track SAC on holiday (I have not included dives where a SAC of 0 is listed). At least my SAC is going down.......slowly.
Actually, if i plot the chart like this with a moving average you can see that my SAC isn't really shifting......bugger.
I'd say your sac is perfectly reasonable shoka, i've never used less then 15 for planning I would expect to be around there somewhere in UK conditions.
Yes, i just pulled the data out of Suunto Dive Manager (SDM) manually and stuck it into Excel. Not aware of a fancy way to dump all the info but would have been handy.
I don't feel so bad now... My SAC for my dives this weekend (according to JDiveLog) were 26.8 and 24.6 so I'm a bit closer to other people than I thought....
And then there's Dom, who should be taxed on his air consumption. It'd end the national debt in 12 months.
My average for the last 15 dives (all I have info for) is 11.64 That includes some blue water single tank and last weekend out of Plymouth with twins.
I wouldn't say it's Sad Harry. A low SAC isn't some sort of competition, you need what you need. Some will see it as braagging rights to claim the lowest numbers whilst others just get on with it. Just ensure the higher end of the sac range isn't due to other thing like overweighting and/or excessive finning due to poor buoyancy.
Not me I hope. I'm looking for sympathy, not aggression. The double sad part is that those are all blue water dives. And in any company of reasonably experienced divers, I'm always the one who sets the end of the dive. I even resort to 15's on occasions and even then I'm likely to be close to the first to 50. I'm getting to love diving with newbies because I can make it back to the boat with 60 or 70 bar in the tank, and not be the limit on the dive. I do notice that it is substantially worse if I take a camera, and I could start making excuses about a 46" chest, but that would be just pitiful. It's not poor position in the water, I'm reasonably fit for my age, I'm not noticeably stressed in the water, I'm also trying to relax and breath evenly, but not making any other attempt to restrict my breathing. I'm in a relatively light full wetsuit, but it was only towards the end of the series of dives in Dahab (over which I lost about 5 lbs in weight) that I started to feel any signs of cold at the end of the dives. I'm a lifetime non smoker, perhaps that is a dignified excuse. Harry
Your SAC will reduce with time and experience. Just don't worry about it, the more you think about it under water the worse it gets as you start stressing about it. Just enjoy the dive!
Mine averages out around 19, only got 10 dives with the new computer though. Sent from my iPad using Forum Runner
