I am leaving (finally!) for Bali next week in what will be my longest dive trip with 43 dives in all planned. First stop Tulamben, then Nusa Penida and finally a 10-day liveaboard trip on Mermaid I to Komodo National Park and surroundings. Cannot wait!

I had to twice cancel this itinerary after booking before. Once in 2009 because I was changing jobs at the time and could not get away and then again in 2011 because of other reasons. I hope the trip this time will make the wait worthwhile.

I am flying on KLM from Bristol to Amsterdam and connecting to the overnight flight direct to Bali. No hassle of going through Jakarta.

Don't worry, you don't have to hear anything when I post my report and pictures.

Zubar: if you need any help with your Bali plans, drop me a PM. I lived in Bali for 5 years, working in the diving industry.

It is also the time of the Bali Arts Festival during my visit and I hope to get a gander and some of the traditional costumes and dances when I am not diving (which is seldom).

Guy I used to work with took redundancy and buggered off to Bali to work in a dive centre. Still there as far as I know. I really should look him up...

Just got back yesterday after a great trip. Including the land-based leg, it was a whopping trip with 42 dives and probably my best trip to date in terms of quality of diving. Picturesque reef dives, a superb wreck dive, thrilling drift dives and excellent muck dives through the trip. Saw everything - sharks, manta rays, turtles, colourful & healthy coral, varied reef fish, a huge variety of nudibranches and critters that I had never seen before in the muck dives.

I am still jet-lagged and have some pending "homework" to catch-up with. So, it will take me a few days to post a full report and pictures.

Sorry guys. As you probably have guessed, I have been very busy......watching the World Cup. I am working this weekend and have the Monday off. As there is no game on that day, promise to do both reports ( Bali & Komodo). Meanwhile, here are a couple of teaser trailers.
