Dive Master Equipment Exchange
PeterT I am doing my Dive Master Equipment Exchange drill on Thursday, has any-one got any tips or tricks for me ~~ PeterT ~~ Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat its mistakes. [UNKNOWN]
Davey_Willo Yeah..... don't mess up.
Kevin Pete. If you are doing this with Andy, there might well be a twist in that he will require you to do the exchange whilst buddy breathing. It's not as difficult as you might think. If you are buddy breathing, make sure you develop a regular pattern, try a few lengths swimming while swapping the reg before the exchange. Be calm and don't rush. Make sure you and you buddy talk through the order that you want to swap. Try starting with fins (try and make sure you have the same type ie full foot or open foot otherwise you will have to change boots as well!!). Next the BCD comes off of the receiver who can then help the donor, receiver puts on the BCD and becomes the donor. Stability can be awkward once you have the BCD off so remember to help each other. Finally the mask. Easy!!!! Good luck and have fun. Kevin
PeterT As Kevin witnessed it was a source of great amusement to all those present. It was probably the fastest exchange anyone there has seen. But alas we managed to break the surface. I was a bit gutted but no problem will do it again next time we have a pool session and take it nice and slow this time. ~~ PeterT ~~ Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat its mistakes. AndyC Oh well - good luck for next time. Going nice and slow is definately a help. Did you have to do it whilst buddy breathing? Your lucky to get to do it in a nice warm pool, when I did mine I had to do the whole thing in the ocean. Andy

AndyC Peter I hope all went well on the DM course. Sorry, I didn't look at the forum before you did it so any advice would be a bit late. It looks like Kevin gave you all the advice anyway. How did you do ? Andy
