I have had a Beaver Ranger knife in my hold luggage attached to my BCD for years and travelled all over the world, including Australia and the US of A and never had a problem.

I am sure that it doesn't happen at Glasgow airport, but there are some officious bastards around.

Heading off to the US so TSA checks...

I got stopped coming through Gatwick once with 6x 12lt cylinders on a trolly.
Got pulled over and customs guy started to try and catch me out by asking
diving questions, well that was a mistake :p

It ended with me telling him off for not doing a scuba review before he did a
deeper dive first day of his hols after a 2 year layoff :)

Lol. I was coming back from Lanzarote think it was a standard bucket carrier
Thompson or Monarch. This was about 7 years ago mind, they were hot on
weight going out, but very lax coming back.

    Here's another gem though :)

Bristol Airport, kanckered after a heavy week and just about made check-in.
Dive bag loaded with kit and not a lot else, goes through and was asked what
was in the bag. Instead of saying dive kit, the first thought in my fuddled brain
was BC and then thought oo better tell them about a couple of kniives. Well that
was what I thought i'd said, when in fact it came out as I kid you not " it's a stab
    jacket and knives".

Never did find out if they thought it was S&M gear or I was a knife thrower, but it
got me a full search, lol. Amazing how quick you wake up when you realise it just
    got serious :)
